Welt am Rad – Unterwegs mit Weltenradler Thomas Meixener

3 February 2020
Thomas Meixener

"Better to have failed than never to have tried". Thomas Meixner, who comes from Saxony-Anhalt, has been cycling around the world with this motto since 1998. Sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied, the now 54-year-old world cyclist has crossed 115 countries on all five continents in 21 years. During this time, he has covered 250,000 kilometers with his bike and a WECHSEL tent. Pedal by pedal, revolution by revolution. It is not so much the sport that draws the free spirit, who is fascinated by the world, into the distance again and again. It is, as he says himself, "the encounters with people and being on the road in a fascinating natural environment".

In 2018, Central Asia is the "travel destination" for which Thomas Meixner is covering a distance of over 16,000 km. He will travel via Turkey to the Caspian Sea and later along the old trade route to Xi'an in China. This is where the eastern end of the traditional Silk Road ends this sweat-inducing summer trip full of breathtaking impressions and experiences. Once again, the long journey was the goal. And it was worth the effort!

If you would like to find out more now: on his website, world cyclist Thomas Meixner describes his adventures and experiences on his many tours through Europe, the USA, Australia, Japan and most recently Central Asia in many exciting travelogues.

Thomas Meixner is using a Wechsel Pathfinder and is currently on a trip in North & South America.
