What matters on the bike

On the bike you carry a handlebar roll, frame bag and saddle bag rather than a rucksack, so every centimetre of pack size counts. That is why this page lists only our down sleeping bags: they give the most warmth per gram and compress the smallest – the same reasons they make good backpacking sleeping bags.

Your sleep system on the bike

Sleeping bag, mat and tent belong together. Our lightest summer combination: the Pyro 250 (480 g, 13 x 19 cm) and the Aera M air mat (490 g, 20 x 12 cm, R-value 6.0) – 970 g together. Tents with short pole sections are under Bikepacking tents, more mats under Ultralight sleeping mats.

Good to know: on the bike, pack your sleeping bag in a waterproof dry bag or waterproof pannier. The compression sack supplied saves space but does not keep out rain.
