Innovations in detail

Over the years, we have come up with a number of ideas for our tents.
Find out which innovations are made by Wechsel.

Minimal surface cut

The minimal surface cut ensures an even load on the materials and prevents the annoying flapping of the tent skin in windy conditions. In addition, a large part of the stretching behavior of the fabrics is absorbed.

Ventilation

Ventilation

The APEX ventilation flaps are located at the apex of the wind flow hitting the tent. Here, the wind creates an overpressure on the side facing the tent and at the same time a negative pressure on the other side. They are also incorporated into the design seams. They do not need to be tensioned separately and lie flat when closed thanks to the Velcro tape, preventing annoying flapping in the wind.

Upsidedown Buckles

Upsidedown Buckles

The decisive, easy connection between the inner and outer tent: the outer tent can be pulled tight with one hand, even without additional tensioning with pegs, as the buckles are attached in the direction of pull.

Optimized pole channel guide

The pole channels in combination with pole hooks enable quick and easy assembly.

Storm guy ropes

Specially stitched mounts on the seam for the storm guy ropes relieve the material and do not warp the tent.

Color-coded buckles

Color-coded buckles

Color-coded buckles make it easy to find the correct position of the outer tent on the inner tent.

Impregnated zipper strip

The fabric strip of the spiral zippers is impregnated to provide optimum protection against moisture penetration.

Double fell seams

All main seams are sewn with a double fell seam, which means that the thread passes through four layers of material and thus ensures perfect stability and impermeability.

Sleeping area with extra length

With the Tempest and Outpost tents, we have succeeded in creating an extra-long sleeping length thanks to the innovative asymmetrical arrangement of the inner tent. This means that even tall outdoor enthusiasts with a body length of over 200 cm can sleep comfortably in the tent without touching the inner tent with their feet or head.

Uniform segment lengths

In order to ensure repairs to the poles and the supply of spare parts in the future, all poles have the same segment length and color in the respective thickness. The colored pole markings are located on the robust end pieces.

Seam tape sealing on the Travel Line

Seam tape sealing on the Travel Line

All seams on the outer tent and inner tent floor are waterproof taped.

Seam sealing on the Zero G and Unlimited Line

Unfortunately, the seams on the silicone-coated outer tent of these two lines cannot yet be sealed with seam tape. These seams are sewn with a cotton-wrapped polyester thread, which swells when it rains and seals the seam. We also recommend sealing the seams of the outer tent from the outside with the seam sealer supplied before using it for the first time.
